Chicago's First Contemporary Art Music Tape Label
Parlour Tapes+ is a new music cassette tape label based in Chicago. The city vibrates with the voices of its makers of music - composers, performers, improvisers, programmers, instrument-builders - and Parlour Tapes+ aims to capture these rustlings, large and small, on quarter-inch oxide-coated magnetic tape. They are also a media and performance collective that mounts unlikely concert-happenings and publishes an online magazine. They aim to fuel creative thought in their field with stimulating, encouraging, and at times completely over-the-top projects to nurture the earnest and unbridled fulfillment of artistic desire.
Parlour Tapes+ will be recording in the museum's auditorium and will be setting up a pop-up mixing studio in the basement. They will also be advising the museum on sound design for the auditorium.
